Things to Do While The Roof at Park South is Closed for the Winter Season

As much as we love cozying up on the rooftop with a warm drink and breathtaking views of the NYC skyline, all good things must come to a (temporary) end. The Roof at Park South will be closing for the winter season on November 1st, but don’t worry—we’ve got a few ideas to keep you entertained until we reopen in the spring. Here’s a lighthearted list of things to do while you’re waiting for your favorite rooftop spot to return. Of course, we highly encourage you to visit The Roof before we close to soak in every last bit of the season. But once the winter chill hits, here’s how to pass the time:

1. Recreate The Roof at Home

Why let winter get in the way of your rooftop dreams? Grab a space heater, string up some fairy lights, and set up camp on your fire escape or balcony. Sure, you might be bundled up in five layers, but with the right attitude (and maybe a toasty hot toddy), you can channel The Roof’s vibes right in your own backyard. Bonus points if you make your own truffle fries.

2. Host a “Missing The Roof” Party

Throw a party in honor of The Roof while it’s closed. You can invite friends over and create a DIY cocktail station, complete with fall-inspired drinks. Name one “The Rooftop Revival” and make sure it involves lots of cinnamon and a fireplace on the TV screen. Don’t forget to include cozy blankets and imaginary skyline views!

3. Practice Your Cocktail-Making Skills

We know you miss our expertly crafted cocktails, but this is the perfect opportunity to brush up on your own mixology skills. Get adventurous with your shaker and try to recreate some of your favorites from our menu. You could even make it a New Year’s resolution to perfect the art of the Espresso Martini—just in time for when we reopen!

4. Invent a New, Non-Rooftop “Winter” Activity

While rooftop lounging is out for a few months, it’s time to get creative. Start a “winter rooftop waiting club,” where the goal is to brainstorm ideas for the spring return of The Roof. Alternatively, create a rooftop-inspired blanket fort in your living room and call it “Indoor Rooftop” season. It’s all about perspective!

5. Start Planning Your Spring Wardrobe for The Roof

It’s never too early to start planning. Spend your winter months curating the perfect springtime rooftop wardrobe. Find that ideal flowy dress or sharp jacket that will make you feel like a rooftop regular come reopening season. After all, fashion on the roof is a serious matter.

6. Dine at Sweetbriar Restaurant (The “Roof But Warmer” Experience)

No rooftop access? No problem. You can still enjoy a top-tier dining experience at Sweetbriar, the acclaimed restaurant downstairs from The Roof. Warm up with hearty dishes like Smoked Chicken, Fusilli, or Burrata while pretending the glow of Sweetbriar’s cozy ambiance is the rooftop sunset. It’s basically the same thing—just warmer, tastier, and without the need for five layers of outerwear.

7. Search for Other Rooftops (But Don’t Get Too Comfortable)

Sure, you can visit other rooftop spots in the city, but just remember—The Roof at Park South will always hold a special place in your heart. Treat these winter rooftops like temporary flings, knowing that you’ll be back to your true love in the spring. Use this time to explore, but don’t forget where your loyalty lies.

8. Countdown the Days Until The Roof Reopens

Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and start a countdown clock until we reopen. (Is it too much to make a paper chain? Absolutely not.) When we open again in the spring, you’ll be ready and waiting to claim your spot on the banquettes and enjoy cocktails under the stars once more.

Visit Before We Close for Winter!

Before the rooftop hibernation begins, make sure you visit The Roof at Park South for one last fall hurrah. Savor our cozy fireside atmosphere, sip on seasonal cocktails, and indulge in your favorite dishes before November 1st rolls around. Whether you’re coming for a date night, after-work drinks, or a weekend get-together, this is your last chance to experience everything that makes The Roof so special.

So don’t wait—grab your friends, head to the rooftop, and enjoy these last few weeks of fall magic. We’ll be counting down the days until we see you again in the spring.
